Anyone else interested in participating in an online course by Yale University about Financial Markets?
Yale University has launched an online course (hosted by the Coursera platform), entitled "Financial Markets" which is taught by Nobel Prize winner and Sterling Professor of Economics, Robert Shiller - start date: July 31, 2017 (Enrollment ends August 5). Here is the course trailer - https://youtu.be/CnsGF8Br95c.
In week one, there is a set question posted on the course forum: "Why is this course important to you? - Tell us why this course is important to you, and what your learning goals are!". In my answer I have cited:
Bichler, Shimshon and Nitzan, Jonathan (2012), Capital as Power: Toward a New Cosmology of Capitalism - http://www.capitalaspower.com/2012/09/c ... apitalism/ &
"(...) capital can be theorized as power and that capital is finance and only finance." - Di Muzio, Tim. (2013), The Capitalist Mode of Power: Critical Engagements with the Power Theory of Value - http://www.capitalaspower.com/2013/08/t ... -of-value/
I have attached a pdf copy of my full answer (see below).
